Policies & Compliance

Environmental Policy

Apex Grove Distribution Ltd ("Apex Grove") recognises that drilling, construction and the movement of commodities and fuels can affect land, water, air and communities. We are committed to preventing pollution, using resources responsibly and complying with environmental law, including the Environmental Management and Co-ordination Act 1999 (EMCA) as administered by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), and the Water Act 2016 as administered by the Water Resources Authority (WRA).

Legal Compliance and Approvals

We work with clients to ensure that environmental impact assessments or project reports are obtained from NEMA where required, and that conditions of licences are followed on site. We do not begin regulated works without the necessary approvals.

Water Permits, Borehole Siting and Abstraction

  • Hydrogeological surveys are carried out before drilling to guide siting.
  • We support clients in obtaining WRA authorisations and permits for drilling and abstraction.
  • Boreholes are sited away from pit latrines, septic tanks, waste sites and other contamination sources, with consideration for existing water users.
  • Test pumping establishes safe yields; pumps are sized to avoid over-abstraction.
  • Boreholes are properly cased, grouted and sealed to protect aquifers, and drilling records are kept and shared as required.
  • Unsuccessful or abandoned boreholes are decommissioned safely.

Waste Management

We minimise, segregate and store waste safely, use licensed waste handlers, and follow the Environmental Management and Co-ordination (Waste Management) Regulations. Drilling fluids and cuttings are contained and disposed of responsibly. Burning of waste on site is not permitted.

Spill Prevention and Control

  • Fuels, oils and chemicals are stored in bunded or secure areas away from watercourses and boreholes.
  • Spill kits are available on sites and vehicles; staff are trained to use them.
  • Refuelling is carried out in controlled areas using drip trays.
  • In our trading activities, we use reputable storage and transport providers for fuels and bitumen and expect them to maintain spill response arrangements.
  • Spills are reported, cleaned up and investigated, and notified to authorities where required.

Resources, Emissions and Biodiversity

We aim to reduce fuel use, noise and dust, recommend solar pumping where suitable, limit vegetation clearance, and reinstate disturbed land on completion. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our approach to greenhouse gas emissions.

Communities

We engage with local communities and authorities on project impacts and respond to concerns promptly.
