Carbon Reduction Plan

Apex Grove Distribution Ltd ("Apex Grove") is a Kenyan private limited company delivering borehole drilling and maintenance, construction and infrastructure works (including footbridges and roads) for county governments and government agencies, and international trade in bulk commodities, fuels and bitumen. Apex Grove is part of the Earthe group. This plan follows the structure of UK Procurement Policy Note 06/21.

Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

Apex Grove is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction is measured.

Scope 1 is expected to cover fuel used by our vehicle fleet, drilling rigs, generators and site plant. Scope 2 covers purchased electricity at offices and yards. Selected Scope 3 categories are expected to include upstream transportation and distribution, business travel, employee commuting and waste generated in operations, in line with PPN 06/21.

Current Emissions Reporting

Current emissions will be reported annually against the baseline.

Emissions Reduction Targets

We will set quantified short- and medium-term reduction targets once the baseline is published. Until then, our direction is a year-on-year reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, progressing to Net Zero by 2050.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Measures being implemented or planned

Fleet and rig fuel efficiency: monitoring fuel consumption per vehicle and rig, reducing idling, and favouring efficient equipment when replacing plant.
Solar-powered borehole pumps: recommending and installing solar pumping systems where site conditions, yield and client requirements make them suitable, reducing diesel generator use over the life of the asset.
Route planning: planning mobilisation, deliveries and maintenance visits to combine trips and minimise distance travelled.
Preventive maintenance: scheduled servicing of vehicles, rigs, compressors and generators to keep engines running efficiently and avoid breakdown-related journeys.
Local hiring: recruiting labour and skilled staff near project sites wherever practical, reducing long-distance travel and accommodation needs.
Supplier engagement: asking key suppliers, hauliers and shipping partners about their emissions and efficiency practices, and considering this in procurement decisions.
Office and yard energy: efficient lighting and equipment, and reducing unnecessary electricity use.

We will report progress on these measures alongside our emissions data.

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans. Emissions will be reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard, using the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting. Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and the selected Scope 3 emissions, will be reported in accordance with SECR requirements and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions outlined in the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard, as far as applicable.
